HTC Wildfire S is a smaller and cheaper Android smartphone, which helps to fill the line of T-Mobile. It is Android 2.3 (gingerbread), which deserves a hallelujah, because a lot of new phones are still shipping and the Android operating system 2.2, and even a slow, archaic, Android 2.1, in some cases. No exchange of Sensation HTC 4G ($ 199, 4 stars) in this phone, but Wildfire S offers some of the best applications for Android, and has a particularly attractive price ($ 79.99 with contract).
Design, call quality, and Applications
S Wildfire resembles a low-end touchscreen phone features, even if Android is a smartphone. It measures 4.0 by 2.3 by 0.5 inches (DRC) thin and weighs 3.7 oz. It is made entirely of plastic except the glass screen. Factor is a smooth
, attractive way that can trap many buyers based on appearance alone. The 3.2-inch panel, 320 x 480 pixels capacitive looks bright and colorful and quickly became homogeneous and precise feel. Wildfire S packs a G-Sensor, digital compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor, like all high end phones with Android. Write to the on-screen QWERTY keyboard was surprisingly easy, both portrait and landscape modes, the credit of large buttons (which block the commitment is an important part of the screen). Phone numbers was a little slow, but it was unbearable. The S Wildfire is a quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band HSDPA (1700/2100 MHz) with the device 802.
Calls sounded clear through the Jawbone Bluetooth headset was aliphatic ($ 129, 4 stars). Voice dialing via Bluetooth worked well with no training. Handsfree has been a disappointment, even the highest volume I could barely hear the fan in my office when the mode is set at low speed. The battery life is poor location, just 5 hours and 44 minutes of talk time in EDGE mode. This result would have been fine with HSPA +, but is several hours away from the average of other Android phones T-Mobile's 2G EDGE network.
Sense HTC user interface looks nice and crisp, with applications to date, seven customizable home screens, contact management and solids. However, HTC has gone with an old 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor to keep prices down, fortunately, the phone was still sensitive enough for most tasks. Added FriendStream Facebook app, Twitter, Flicker and updates a page. DoubleTwist also preloaded, so you can get mobile media syncing with iTunes playlists to the right of the box. Google maps are also free voice-activated navigation, step-by-turn GPS directions, and not much in the way of useless bloatware, which is excellent. Wildfire S has a screen resolution of the standard that offers maximum compatibility in the Android Market, which should not have many problems running any of the third party applications available 200,000 +.
The media, camera, and conclusions
My 32 GB SanDisk microSD card worked fine in the microSD slot located under battery cover; HTC launches into a 2 GB card to get started. The size standard 3.5 mm headphone jack allows you to find a good sounding headphones easy. The music sounded good through headphones Bluetooth Samsung HM6450 Modus ($ 99, 4 stars). HTC has updated the music player application, with its jukebox style coverflow is just as fun to use, as always. Autonomous videos play smoothly in full screen, but the decoding of 720p HD files on the road is too much for this phone. (You'd better create 320 by 480 pixels versions of your videos anyway, for various reasons.)
The 5 megapixel camera has an LED flash autofocus and face detection. HTC uses filters and clever camera effects to make the experience more enjoyable. Test photos were good for a low-end phone, even if a bit off the mark with a 5-megapixel sensor, with enough detail in shots outside and inside too much grain. The shutter speed was somewhat slow, which led to some sweet shots. 640-480 pixels recorded videos were very useful at 19 frames per second, the phone has a light sensor too aggressive, however, that the video went from dark black to very light suddenly.
At this point, T-Mobile has a large number of Android devices all over the spectrum intense price. Beware of sales, much of the decision-making process these days is to see where the initial price of each phone at the right time to buy. LG Optimus T ($ 39, 4 stars) seems a bit 's solidly built than the Wildfire and has better sound quality and battery life, but lacks the latter Gingerbread OS and attractive way to HTC in the UI improvements. If you have a little 'more money up front, but it takes a little phone, the Samsung 4G Salon ($ 99, 4 stars) is very interesting, thanks to its 4G HSPA + data radio, 1 GHz CPU, display and clear, and it is up to 2.3 Android. The exhibition is also missing 4G HTC various user interface improvements, but some people prefer anyway.
