One of the biggest selling points is that Apple iPad 2 is thinner and lighter than the original iPad. One thing that is not, however, are somewhat less fragile, with its glass touch screen 9.7-inch vibrant. When you get an iPad, that's pretty much assume that your next purchase should be a case to protect the tablet. And protector iPad most innovative I've seen so far, Apple iPad Intelligent own coverage ($ 39 to $ 69 direct). In fact, Smart Cover is less (in the traditional sense), and just Screen Protector, but he did just that,protect your iPad 2 display efficiently and elegantly, and without adding volume, like many other cases do.
Smart Cover is only one (9.5 by 0.3 inches 7) flexible sheets, it is about as thick as a stick of Doublemint gum (less than 0.1 inches), with three vertical ribs. This is one of the best features of the Smart Cover: It adds almost no thickness to the iPad, but you do not get the protection of the brushed aluminum back of the shelf. The cover consists of two polyurethane ($ 39) or aniline-dyed Italian leather ($ 69) with a soft, velvety microfiber lining that is displayed against the iPad. The polyurethane version is available mostly in brighter colors, including pink, orange, lime green, light blue and light gray. The leather colors are more subdued beige, beige, gray, black and red. I tested the lime green polyurethane cover. Polyurethane side feels like rubber and gives a nice grip. The microfiber lining is soft and almost velvety.
There is a long hinge, metal bar magnet which runs down the left side of the Smart Cover, which, when placed near the left pane magnetized IPAD, easily fits and protects the entire surface of the screen on the iPad. Magnets around the edge of the screen to keep the iPad Smart Cover in place. Removing the smart is so simple. It works with magnets embedded in the tablet, the Smart Cover is only compatible with iPad 2, not the original iPhone or any other tablet.
The ribs come into play when you peel the cover. You can flip the lid on a triangular shape, and IPAD perches up at an angle of 30 degrees, which makes typing horizontally on the screen keyboard very comfortable. IPad turn over and the triangle grows more upright tablet, so it is in a perfect angle for film or video chatting FaceTime.
Very cool feature: When you put the lid on the screen, the iPad will automatically put to sleep. And when you lift a corner of the lid, it wakes up the tablet. (You can disable this feature, the menu iPad, if you will.)
One of my biggest questions, see how the Smart Cover is whether the magnets are strong enough to hold the cover in a backpack or purse full of people. In my tests, in three different bags, in various states of fullness, of varying amounts of time, the Smart Cover always remained in place to protect the iPhone screen. I do not see the iPhone on, then down to second when the lid is lifted and pushed the screen, but it was a rare event.
Once, and it is on Apple's marketing is not the Smart Cover yourself:. The company says that the microfiber lining "gently buffs off any screen traces or fingerprints as you move" In practice, when the iPad was covered with fingerprints, they do not miraculously disappear when iPad taken a turn in my bag.
